The Legends Curriculum

CURRICULUM

We focus on the hardest skills of the game: deceptive dribbling and goal scoring. Through our training curriculum, we take kids through four stages of progression. Imagine the LEGENDS of the game: Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi, Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo, Zidane, Cruyff, the list goes on. All of these players are deceptive dribblers and goal scorers. You can argue who the best is, but you’d have any one of them in your roster (or all of them) in a heart beat.

Our Curriculum is stage based instead of age based, so we cater what we teach to your player based on where their skill set is. We focus on teaching an incredible technical foundation for deceptive dribbling and shooting before introducing the next stages of our curriculum. Once the player has this foundation, we introduce our 1v1 stage where players are asked to relentlessly attack and defend. While working on both sides of the ball, players use their newly acquired deceptive dribbling skills against increasing pressure. We intertwine more conditions to enhance the speed of play and work on more difficult 1v1 skills.

We foster a “Go for it” mentality in the 1v1 stage before introducing the 2v2 stage. While in this stage, players learn how to be, and how to utilize the 2nd attacker and 2nd defender. Once they can successfully play as the 2nd attacker or defender, and understand how to utilize the 2nd attacker or defender, we add in more conditions to teach different concepts. We also teach concepts like Pressure/Cover and different passing sequences like the give and go or overlapping run.

To cap off the progressions, we will have the kids play in small sided games of 3v3 or 4v4. Players are asked to play at full speed to replicate playing inside of the penalty area where time and space are at a premium.

Curriculum Components

In the deceptive dribbling stage our coaches take the time to teach the most successful skills in the game. We take the time to teach each player the skill with attention to detail so that they can perform it under pressure without thinking. See how.

In our 1v1 stage our players go head to head in a dog eat dog competition. Each round lasts 2-3 minutes and the emphasis resides on beating the player with skill to find a shot, or defending your player 1v1 to prevent the shot. Score is kept and players can track their progression. See how.

In our 2v2 stage players work on defending and attacking with a partner. Offensively players work to combine with their teammate in a crowded environment that ensures maximal pressure. Coaches use this setting to help players adjust and thrive in a much more chaotic and pressured environment than any game they’ll ever play in. See how.

While playing Wall Ball, players learn how to finish under pressure inside of just two touches. Players rally back and forth shooting at the same square on the tall wall of our fields. As with all sessions we run at TSB players keep track of each point scored, and continue the rally. Players have two seconds to shoot after their first touch, so their touch as well as time and space must be used appropriately.

In Box Soccer players will take hundreds of first time shots, as well as have the opportunity to play 1v1 and work on heading technique. See how.
